A THIEF has been banned from the Westgate Centre for a year after stealing more than £600 worth of BBQ equipment, champagne and bread from Sainsbury's during lockdown.
David Lee Smith, of Templar Road, Oxford, went on a free shopping spree around the supermarket every day from April 29 to May 9.

At Oxford Magistrates Court on May 12, the 41-year-old admitted taking £672 worth of food and booze and was ordered to pay every penny back.
He admitted taking:
- Four bottles of vodka and alcohol, costing £83, on April 29
- six bottles of brandy and vodka, costing £171, on April 30
- two bottles of vodka, costing £32, on May 2
- two bottles of alcohol, costing £76.50, on May 5
- two bottles of champagne, costing £89, and two bottles of vodka, costing £58.50, on May 7
- £30 worth of BBQ equipment and bread on May 8
- four bottles of vodka and champagne, costing £131, on May 9.
He was also sentenced to 60 days in prison, suspended for 12 months because the offence is 'so serious'.
