A PICTURE of food believed to be from a community fridge 'dumped' on the ground has sparked outrage on social media.
The image, shared on Facebook page Spotted Witney Official yesterday, shows bread and other bakery items left on the ground.
The person who submitted the snap wrote: "Why would you do this? Obviously taken from the community fridge then just dumped outside our flats."
Commenters called the action 'disgraceful', with one person writing: "Just inane, selfish, ridiculous behaviour.

"Where are some peoples morals and conscience? The Fridge is a lifeline to many without enough money. This sort of thing makes my heart hurt."
Witney Community Fridge, currently based in Corn Exchange, also responded and said it was 'incredibly dissapointing'.
A statement on its own Facebook page added: "It's disheartening to see the photo on Spotted Witney suggesting someone who picked up from the fridge today has taken food and just dumped it outside.
"This behaviour is completely against the ethos of our fridge, which exists to reduce food waste and build community."

It went on to say from July 30 the community fridge would be operating from the rear courtyard of High St Methodist Church and would move to a system which will allow fridge users to choose the items they want from the selection available.
It added: “In doing so, we'll be able to welcome back all of our fridge users, so that food is taken by those who will use it, not throw it away.
“We have high hopes that this new approach will allow us to continue helping those in need as well as reducing food waste. In the meantime, if you use the fridge and are given food you do not want, you have the following options:
1. Tell the fridge volunteers if you do not want a bag of bread/bakery
2. Give unwanted items to friends/family/neighbours
3. Dispose of unwanted food in your household food waste bin
4. Post unwanted food on OLIO
“There is no excuse to dump food outside, especially food in plastic bags/packaging.”
