The Covid-19 vaccine being developed at the University of Oxford is safe and induces an immune reaction, findings of the first phases of the study suggest.
The first phase of the clinical trials involving 1,077 people showed the injection led to them making antibodies and white blood cells that can fight coronavirus.
The trial took place between April 23 and May 21 and the findings, published today by medical journal the Lancet, say the vaccine is safe to move to the next stage of development.
Scientists also found the response could be even greater after a second dose.
