A 1930s lamp-post has been given a new lease of life and is now lighting up a footpath in the Northcourt area of Abingdon.
Electricity has been installed into the old gas-powered light, situated off Clevelands.
The lamp-post was renovated to enhance the general environment of the area and it has replaced a modern structure.
The £1,800 project was financed by Abingdon's Joint Environmental Trust and unveiled by the Vale of White Horse District Council chairman, Julie Mayhew-Archer.
She said: "It's not every day you get to open a lamp-post!
"The work has restored it to its former glory and certainly makes the walk down the footpath seem a lot more pleasant."
