A MAN has been ordered to pay back £5.70 after getting in an Oxford taxi and refusing to pay.
Samuel Craig Cooper was also made subject to a community order after hurling racist abuse at a man, thought to be the driver, on April 4.
At Oxford Magistrates Court on March 19, the 28-year-old, of Valence Crescent, Witney, was sentenced for the acts – which the court found to be ‘racially aggravated’.

In the court documents it said: “For the racial element, the Bench took the sentence from a community order to a custody and reduced it back down to a community order to reflect the guilty plea.”
As a result, Cooper must take part in a ‘thinking skills’ programme for 30 days and attend appointments with a court officer for 25 days.
He must also pay £100 in compensation to the man and £85 in court costs.
