ONE Oxford United supporter is ensuring the pre-match pint is back on the menu for tonight’s clash with Portsmouth.
The first leg of the Sky Bet League One play-off semi-final comes just hours before pubs can reopen in England as part of the easing of lockdown restrictions.
U’s fans cannot watch the behind closed doors game at their local boozer, but Watlington resident Neil Calcutt has taken matters into his own hands by creating a makeshift beer garden.

The 44-year-old has decked out his front driveway in yellow and blue and will show highlights from previous matches to build the atmosphere before kick-off.
Mr Calcutt will be joined by family and friends for tonight’s game, including dad Rodney, 75, and ten-year-old son Oliver.

“We’ve had a few looks from delivery drivers,” he said.

“We’ve missed everything about the matchday experience: the banter with the opposition, pre-match pints, the smell of burgers, and the elation when we score.

“The play-offs are a lottery and whoever grasps the moment, performs in big matches and has the courage usually wins. Hopefully it’ll be the yellows.”
