An Oxford author has made the six-strong shortlist for a national crime writing prize.
Mick Herron is in the running for the 2020 Theakston Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year for Joe Country, the sixth thriller in his Slough House series.

Herron's creation is currently being adapted for television, with Oscar-winning actor Gary Oldman taking on the role of protagonist Jackson Lamb.
It is the fifth time the former legal editor has been shortlisted for the prize, which claims to be the UK's 'most prestigious crime novel award'.
