A BURGLARY prevention team will target Launton tomorrow.
Police, community support officers and crime reduction advisors will go door-to-door with advice about keeping burglars at bay.
They will be backed up by a crime prevention trailer parked in the village centre which will offer tips on all aspects of security and safety.
Crime reduction advisor David Campbell said: "We've chosen this time of year because, in the past, opportunist burglars have taken advantage of darker evenings to try their luck with unlocked doors and windows.
"Even if somebody is at home they may still sneak through a door, steal anything to hand, and be off again within seconds.
"So far this year there's only been one house burglary reported in Launton and we want to ensure it stays that way over the coming months.
"Among other things we will be promoting the proper use of door chains to keep out bogus callers, and urging that door keys and car keys are kept well out of sight."
