BOTLEY Road in Oxford was closed for over an hour this morning after a bomb was discovered near Osney Bridge.
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: “Officers were called today at about 8.40am following reports that an item, believed to be Second World War era ordnance, had been located near Osney Bridge, Botley Road.
“Officers attended the scene and the item was removed and safely disposed of nearby in a controlled explosion.
“A road closure was in place while this took place but this has since been lifted.”
The road was closed both ways between the train station and Ferry Hinksey Road by police whilst they dealt with the incident.
