A Blackbird Leys resident awoke to a flat filled with smoke after leaving food cooking under the grill.
Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, in a post on social media, said on Friday evening crews from Slade Road and Rewley Road Fire Stations were sent to reports of a kitchen fire in a flat.
When firefighters arrived thet were faced with a flat full of smoke.
The fire was caused the resident leaving some food under the grill and accidentally falling asleep.

The post said: "Fortunately the resident had working smoke detectors which woke them as soon as the fire started and prevented much more serious consequences."
It added: "Thankfully, this time everyone involved is okay."
Fire crews cleared the smoke from the flat using powerful fans.
