A 17-YEAR-OLD charged with trying to kill a man in Bicester has appeared at the crown court.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Oxford Crown Court today.

He is charged with one count of attempted murder and one count of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

It follows a single incident involving a single alleged victim, and is claimed to have taken place in February this year in Bicester.

Prosecutors allege that the teenager attempted to murder or wound a man with intent to cause him harm at the accused's home address.

The teenager cannot be identified because of his age and he has not yet entered a formal plea to either of the two offences that he faces.

At a hearing held at the Oxford court his defence barrister asked for more time before his client could enter his pleas to the charges.

Presiding Judge Peter Ross agreed to adjourn the case by one week ahead of any pleas being entered.

He will appear again at the same court on May 28.

A trial date has already been provisionally pencilled in for the case to take place on July 27.

That trial is expected to last up to five days.

Currently, no new jury trial are starting in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, with only a handful of court centres testing the resumption of new trials from next week.
