A DETECTIVE who was first at the scene of the Great Train Robbery has died.
DC John Bailey took the fingerprints and photographs on the Royal Mail train, following the 1963 heist, that helped bring the gang to justice.
Thames Valley Police Museum officers confirmed his death on Twitter yesterday, saying: "Yesterday we heard the sad news that DC John Bailey has passed away. Rest in peace John.
"John was the first detective at the scene of the #GreatTrainRobbery and took the fingerprints/photographs on the Royal Mail train following the 1963 heist."
