HEADINGTON, Marston and Greater Leys have recorded the most coronavirus deaths in Oxford, according to the latest data from the Office for National Statistics.

The ONS interactive map shows that each had five confirmed Covid-19 deaths registered between March 1 and April 18.

This includes all deaths where coronavirus was the underlying cause or was mentioned on the death certificate as a contributory factor.


Accompanying data also shows what percentage Covid-19 fatalities were compared to the overall number deaths for each area.

In Marston, the five coronavirus deaths represented 45 per cent of people who died during this period. 

Other areas with multiple coronavirus deaths include Blackbird Leys with four, Barton, Cowley North, Cowley South & Iffley with three deaths, as well as Risinghurst & Sandhills with two.

There have also been a single recorded death in Summertown, Wolvercote & Cutteslowe, Oxford Central, Grandpont & New Hinksey, Littlemore & Rosehill, Churchill, and Iffley Fields.

There were no deaths recorded in North Central Oxford, East Central Oxford or in Osney, Jericho & Port Meadow.

Outside of Oxford, areas with high death rates include Abingdon Town and West with 12 confirmed virus deaths, Abingdon South having a further five.
The area covering Faringdon and Stanford also recorded 12 deaths in the ONS figures.

Across the UK as a whole there have been 32,065 confirmed virus deaths, measured as of 5pm on Sunday.
