A businessman has stepped in to help tackle street theft in Bicester.
David Thompson, of Launton, has paid for 100 key coils, which will be supplied to women to help them avoid becoming victims of pickpockets. Mr Thompson, the owner of MOH Wireless Technologies, based in Brackley, said: "I wanted to get involved and help the community."
Thames Valley Police provided another 150 coils - available from Friday from the Sure Start, British Heart Foundation and Katharine House hospice shops in the town centre.
Neighbourhood specialist officer Nicki Entwistle said: "It's great that Mr Thompson has come forward. I am pleased they will be available from the charity shops because this is where some crimes are carried out."
