HUNDREDS of people turned out for a Christmas fair in Oxford to promote human rights and environmental issues.
The One World Fair, organised by Oxford-based charity Oxfam, was held in the Town Hall on Saturday.
Penny Lawrence, the charity's international programmes director, was there to welcome visitors to the event along with the Lord Mayor John Tanner.
Mr Tanner said: "The One World Fair is very close to my heart. I came into politics campaigning about Third World poverty and I was thrilled to open the event."
Mr Tanner said the event had been a fantastic place for people to buy early Christmas presents, with a wide range of stalls selling Fairtrade gifts.
He added: "There have been stalls here from Free West Papua and Oxfam through to Amnesty International. It was a great place to come to get your Christmas shopping."
