LONG queues built up on the M40 this afternoon after a lorry overturned near the Cherwell Valley Services at Ardley.
A lane was blocked on the exit slip road at junction ten due to the overturned lorry.
Police said traffic on the southbound carriageway was slow and traffic was also slow on the roundabout.
Earlier, motorists travelling on the M40 near Bicester experienced severe delays after a car hit the central reservation.
The outside lane of the northbound motorway between junction nine at Bicester and junction 10 at Ardley was closed for an hour until shortly before 8am while the scene was cleared.
A police spokesman said major tailbacks had been caused by the lane closure, but the route had returned to normal.
The driver of the vehicle, a grey Fiat, was unhurt in the collision.
