VOLUNTEERS have begun delivering free, hot meals to people living with dementia, whilst many ‘meals on wheels’ services are unavailable.
Oxford Mutual Aid started the pilot scheme on Friday in collaboration with Dementia Oxfordshire.
Using kitchen space provided by University College Oxford, the community group will cook and deliver two meals per day, twice per week, to 22 homes in Oxfordshire.
Jane Probets, lead dementia adviser at Dementia Oxfordshire, said: “It’s not only a meal, it’s the social interaction.”
