WITH Morris dancers unable to take part in the traditional May morning festivities yesterday, one dancer found an alternative way to celebrate.
Jane Bird undertook a 2.6 mile Morris dance as part of the 2.6 Challenge that arose from the postponement of the London Marathon.
Starting at 5.30am from her home in Wantage, and wearing full Morris dancing kit, including bells and handkerchiefs, it took her just under 42 minutes to complete the route.
She said: "It was nice not to have to worry about bumping into people, it was just me, a few birds and the odd van in the road."
So far, she has raised over £700 for Aspire Oxford.
