A THANK you to members of Oxford United has been tabled in the House of Commons.
Layla Moran, Liberal Democratic MP for Oxford West and Abingdon, tabled a motion in Parliament to “thank Oxford United FC on behalf of the whole community” for its efforts in responding to coronavirus.
The motion says “this House expresses its gratitude to the efforts of the staff at Oxford United Football Club during the Covid-19 pandemic”.
It goes on to highlight the role the football club in providing local mental health support and sending face masks to people across Oxfordshire.
The club has given out more than 10,000 free masks to fans.
Layla Moran said: “I want to thank Oxford United FC on behalf of the whole community for all their efforts in responding to this pandemic.
“Not only have they provided local mental health support and sent face masks across the county thanks to club staff and volunteers, but they’ve provided an inspiration for all of us in the area.
“I tabled this motion in Parliament to make sure they get the thanks they deserve.”
The motion would need support from other MPs to be taken forward for further action.
