POLICE have launched an investigation after the discovery of a woman's body in the village of Chilson, near Chipping Norton.
The body of 53-year-old Patricia Owen was found on Friday night.
Police are treating the discovery as an "unexplained death" and have not launched a murder investigation.
A police spokesman last night said "Thames Valley Police, supported by Gloucestershire Constabulary, are investigating the unexplained death of a woman in Chilson, near Chipping Norton.
"Thames Valley Police officers were called to a house at 9.30pm on Friday where the body of a 53-year-old woman was found."
One villager said: "There has been continuous and initially heavy police presence at an address just off the main road.
"There has been what appeared to be a forensic investigation and the property has been cordoned off and a police guard remained last night."
