EMERGENCY services raced to a multi-vehicle crash on the M40 in south Oxfordshire which closed the motorway yesterday afternoon.
Three vehicles were involved in the incident on the southbound carriageway between junction seven and junction six at around 2.10pm.
The driver of a black BMW and the driver of a Citroen van suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital where they remain in a stable condition.

A passenger in the van and the driver of a blue BMW suffered minor injuries and were also taken to hospital.
The road was closed southbound for about three hours.
Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses to the major incident that happened near the Lewknor turn.
Investigating officer Gavin Biggs said: "This was a serious collision and we are currently investigating the circumstances which led to it.

"We therefore need anyone who saw this incident take place, or saw the driving of any of the three vehicles involved before the collision, to get in touch.
"If you were in the area at the time of the collision, please review your dash-cam footage, if you find anything that could help with this investigation, please share this with us."
