Police today issued an appealed for witnesses after two road traffic incidents in West Oxfordshire, one of which involved the death of a teenager.
A 13-year-old boy was killed and a female motorist was left fighting for her life following the crashes last night. The teenager died after a collision with a grey Fiat Punto car outside McDonald's in Ducklington Lane, Witney, at 8pm.
A 17-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of careless driving. Meanwhile, in Burford a woman was taken to Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital with serious injuries following a head-on crash between a red Peugeot and a black Chrysler on the A40 about 55 minutes later.
Both vehicles ended up in a ditch. The Oxford Mail understands police are investigating whether the Chrysler - which was carrying three people - was overtaking a truck prior to the collision.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving. Pc Brian Sparrow, of Abingdon traffic police, said: "I would like to hear from anyone that saw either vehicle prior to the collision, or witnessed the collision itself."
Anyone with information on either incident is urged to call 0845 8 505 505 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
