A MAN and woman were threatened with a machete during a 'distressing' break-in at an Oxfordshire home.

Thames Valley Police has appealed for witnesses following the aggravated burglary in Henley-on-Thames.

At around 4.10am yesterday in Gainsborough Crescent, two men broke into a property, while a third waited outside.

They threatened the house's occupants, a 19-year-old man and a woman aged 60, with a machete.

A dumbbell was also thrown at the man and he was bruised but did not need hospital treatment. No one else was injured.

All three men left the property in a car similar to a Volkswagen Polo or Golf.

They took a wallet with cash in it.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Carly Milward of Force CID in Abingdon, said: “This was a distressing incident for the two victims involved.

“It was fortunate that neither of the victims sustained serious injuries.
