AN INQUEST into the death of a cyclist who was hit by a van, has been put on hold to allow police to continue investigations.
John Howes, 58, from Farmoor, was hit by a Vauxhall Combo van while cycling on Oxford Road at just after 6.30pm on October 28.
He was taken to hospital, but died from his injuries.
A 42 year-old man from Stonesfield was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving while unfit through drugs but was released under investigation.
At an inquest on Wednesday, the assistant coroner for Oxfordshire, Nicholas Graham, said Mr Howes had died at the John Radcliffe Hospital surrounded by his family.
But he said no other information could be revealed, as the Crown Prosecution Service was still making a decision about whether to press charges against the van driver.
The full inquest has been adjourned until January 2021 at the earliest.
