POLICE are appealing for information following a burglary at a 98-year-old woman's home in Mill Lane, Benson.
A man knocked at the front door of the property and asked for a glass of water. The occupier gave him some water and he then asked if it could be warmed up.
When the man left the property the occupier noticed that her fountain pen had been stolen.
The man is stocky, aged between 30 and 40 and about 5ft 7in tall.
The burglary happened at about 12.15pm last Friday, but details were only released this afternoon.
PC Rachel Carter said: "I am appealing for information from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area. This type of burglary can leave the victim distressed and we are keen to catch the offenders. "
