TWO young men suffered fractured skulls after a fight broke out in a village.
They were so seriously injured in the fight in Combe on November 5 that police have only just been able to interview them.
Police today appealed for witnesses after the men were left with serious head injuries following the fight between two small groups of men.
A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "Between 9pm and 9.30pm on November 5, an altercation broke out between the two groups on The Green, near the Cock Inn, shortly after the local firework display. However, this incident is not directly connected to the event.
"It resulted in two men aged 18 and 20 receiving fractured skulls."
Det Con Rob Hughes, of Witney CID, said: "We have only been able to interview the two men in the last few days as their injuries were so serious and they were hospitalised for a week.
"Unfortunately, it is unclear exactly what happened between these groups and we are getting conflicting reports.
"We would like to know if anyone saw this incident take place or anything else that evening in Combe that was suspicious so we can discover exactly what happened."
