Firefighters are tackling a huge blaze at Tilbury Farm off Hazel Road in Botley, Oxford.
Four engines and a specialist water carrier were called to the dairy and arable farm after reports that a barn containing hundreds of bales of hay had caught fire.
David Ralphs, 44, of Hazel Road, said: "I could see flames shooting up above Tilbury Farm. It looked very big - there was lots of smoke and flames and we saw four or five fire engines race up the lane."
A spokesman for Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue said: "We have four pumps in attendance.
"When we got the call we were told the barn was well alight with approximately 400 bales."
