Jurors at the PC Andrew Harper trial were sent home today after one of them came down with a "horrific cold".
Mr Justice Edis told remaining jurors at the Old Bailey it "seems unlikely" that they had coronavirus and the juror said she had had the symptoms "for quite a long time".
Catch up on the trial so far:
- Police officers tried desperately to save PC Harper's life
- Dash-cam footage of the undercover BMW coming head on with the seat Toldeo shown to court
- Helicopter hovering above caravan site to find the car that dragged PC Harper to death
He told them: "Your colleague who's not here has worsened somewhat overnight. She says that she has a horrific cold. No fever but a sore throat and runny nose. She says she's very tired and wants to sleep.
"She says she's had these symptoms for quite a long time and it seems unlikely that it is in fact coronavirus that she's got.
"If it turns out it is a nasty cold there is no reason why we can't go on. If anybody feels ill in the meantime ... do let us know if you have any symptoms."
The judge said he would check in with the absentee on this afternoon and told jurors he had their safety "very much in mind" before asking them to return on tomorrow morning.
