The Prime Minister has asked the public to avoid public spaces and work from home.
In a press conference this afternoon, he said people need to 'avoid' pubs, clubs, bars and theatres and avoid 'non-essential contact.'
He also said that over 70s WILL be asked to isolate in the next few days. He said that where possible, the elderly should ask loved ones to bring them groceries and supplies.
If you must go out, 'avoid unnecessary contact', he said.
He said that from tomorrow, the government will discourage public events. He also said that if one person in a household displays symptoms, everyone in the household should self-isolate.
He said the virus is peaking in some areas quicker than others - in particular in London.
More follows.
