Having read the story about Kathy Singer being banned from lessons at King Alfred's School, Wantage, because she had her hair dyed for Children In Need (Oxford Mail, November 7), I feel compelled to write to make a few points.
No matter what colour her hair, she is still presumably of the same ability to learn as she was before having it dyed.
So the school, in my opinion, has a duty to educate her.
Secondly, it was done in a good cause, to help underprivileged children.
Ironic then that an establishment that is suposed to be there for the benefit of children should take this action.
Thirdly, her Saturday employer speaks highly of her.
So presumably she is not the rebellious type.
Here is a young person trying to do good on behalf of less well-off peers and she is punished.
Come on, head of her school, grow up and use common sense.
And while you are about it, issue an apology through this newspaper to her and her mum and give a donation to the charity.
