A SUPERMARKET is removing all single-use plastic carrier bags and replacing them with 100 per cent compostable ones across its Oxfordshire stores.
Co-op Midcounties says the introduction of the bags in 51 regional stores will help remove an estimated three million single-use plastic carrier bags from circulation per year.
The new bags are fully compostable within 12 months.
Mike Pickering, CSR manager at Co-op Midcounties, said: “The elimination of single-use plastic carrier bags across our stores in Oxfordshire is an important step in our ongoing commitment to tackling single-use plastics.”
