A MASSIVE tree blocking the Thames towpath has surprised walkers and cyclists this week.
Branches and leaves were scattered along the road and cyclists were spotted carrying their bikes over the fallen tree yesterday.

One eyewitness who inspected the scene of the incident was confident that the tree was cut at its roots on purpose.
While the tree was still obstructing the towpath today, Oxfordshire County Council – which manages the woodland – was not able to confirm if plans had been made for its retrieval.
The authority was also unable to say whether the felling of the tree was intentional.
