Police were called to a bank in North Oxford this morning following an armed robbery.
The robbery took place at the Abbey bank, in Banbury Road, Summertown, during the early hours.
The Oxford Mail understands a "substantial" amount of money has been stolen.
Police officers cordoned off the corner of Mayfield Road and Banbury Road and removed a blue Vauxhall Corsa from the scene.
Shortly before 9am staff from the Abbey arrived to get into the branch but were forced to wait outside while police continued their investigation.
A spokesman for the Abbey National said no further details were being released at this stage.
