A SCHOOL has had to close today after being left without running water.

Woodeaton Manor School near Oxford has been unable to welcome pupils this morning, but is due to reopen tomorrow.

The special school, between Islip and Beckley, teaches more than 80 children and teenagers.

A notice on Oxfordshire County Council's emergency school closure page stated: "We have been informed that there will be no water to the school site between the hours of 10am and 4pm.

"Therefore the school has taken the decision to shut for the duration of the day."

An additional message on Woodeaton Manor's own website said: "The school's water supply is being shut off due to the ongoing water works outside the school.

"We plan to be open as usual on Friday."

Thames Water is currently carrying out works on the road leading to the school, just off the B4027.

The scheme is not expected to be completed until March 20, according to the one.network roadworks map.
