Burglars left empty handed after conning their way inside a house by claiming to be from the Water Board.
Two men called on a house in Lambourn Road, Rose Hill, Oxford, between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on Friday claiming there was a water leak in the area and that they needed to check the water pressure.
One man stayed in the kitchen to check the taps while the other man went in to the living room.
They men are both white, aged between 30 and 40, between 5ft 6ins and 5ft 9ins.
One con man had dark hair and was wearing a grey bomber-style jacket, had narrow eyes and was clean shaven.
The other had fair hair and wearing a brown waist length jacket.
Dc Jim Holmes said: "This happened at a time of day when there were plenty of people around.
"The men left the property when the occupier asked them what they were doing, so luckily nothing was stolen."
