Despite the excitement and pleasure fireworks give to parents and children on bonfire night, I think the indiscriminate sale of fireworks should cease and only properly organised displays allowed.
The terrible experience of the family in Ramsey Road, Headington, having a firework pushed throught their letterbox is sufficient to show that there are many irresponsible people on the streets at night who seem to have no idea of the havoc that can be caused.
Perhaps they don't even care! But for the fire alarm working, it could have involved a manslaughter charge.
Next year this family will live in fear until the night is over unless something is done.
