FIFTEEN foot flames engulfed an artist's studio located at the rear of his garden.
Firefighters from Rewley Road and Slade Park fire stations attended the incident on Donnington Bridge Road at 6.20 yesterday.
The owner, who was in his studio at the time of the blaze, tried to put the fire out with an extinguisher but was overcome and had to leave quickly.

At least two fire engines were spotted at the scene.
A driver who was travelling along nearby Iffley Road, at 6.30pm, said the air was hazy with strong-smelling smoke.
Watch manager Nick Windsor from Rewley Road Fire Station said: "The fire escalated very quickly due to the flammable materials and paints within the workshop and the owner was very fortunate to be able to escape without significant harm."
The artist was assessed by South Central Ambulance Service at the scene for smoke inhalation but soon released, a little shaken but nothing more serious.
