STAGECOACH in Oxfordshire has announced details of a new driver apprenticeship scheme being launched today.
The bus company’ s new scheme will see apprentices gain their Passenger Carrying Vehicle licence and receive a further 12 months of additional training, resulting in a Level 2 Passenger Transport Driver qualification.

Roshina Khan, assistant operations manager, who is responsible for the company’s Training School and will be leading the scheme, said: “We’re always looking at ways we can recruit exceptional talent and further improve the learning and development for drivers.”

The initiative, which is being offered in partnership with Interserve Learning and Employment, will start with six weeks of driver training.
In the 12 months that follow, there will be enhanced learning and development as well as workshop-based learning in areas such as health and safety, teamwork, customer service, professionalism, problem solving and decision making, on a monthly basis.

At the end of the scheme, candidates will receive a Level 2 Passenger Transport Driver apprenticeship qualification.
The 2020 apprentices, who will be based at the Oxfordshire depot in Cowley, will start their training today.
