In a post on the Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service Facebook page, firefighters wrote: "On arrival we saw smoke coming from the window of a first floor flat.
"This is a bit of an unusual one as it seems the owner's dog jumped up and knocked the cooker switch on…unfortunately the cooker had a bin on it which caught fire.
"Happy to report no one was hurt and the naughty dog is fine!"

Firefighters quickly put the flames out and then cleared the smoke using a special fan.
The fire service advised people that it is 'never a good idea' to leave items on top of a cooker.
The post did not specify exactly where in Wantage the fire happened.
