RENAULT'S new Laguna hatchback has entered UK showrooms and ordering has opened for top-of-the-range Hatch Initiale and Sport Tourer models, which are due to go on sale in January.
The new range has insurance group ratings improved by up to two group ratings for certain models compared to the previous Laguna and the new Laguna 2.0 dCi 150 Dynamique has achieved an impressive residual value forecast of 32.1 per cent over three years/60,000 miles - an increase of 7.2 per cent over the previous model.
For lower mileage drivers, the costs stack up even more in favour of the new Renault flagship. Over 36 months/36,000 miles, the same new Laguna retains 37.2 per cent of its value, against 36 per cent for the equivalent Mondeo.
Rounding off the low costs of ownership for the new Laguna are its low insurance groups, which have recently been re-rated to make the new range even more attractive.
For both Hatch and Sport Tourer models, they now range from 7E for all 1.5 dCi 110 models up to 11E for the most potent and luxurious Initiale 2.0 16V 170 Turbo Auto.
In spite of the overall gains in quality and specification, the hatch models are an average of £300 less than their predecessors.
For example, the likely best-seller, hatch Dynamique 2.0 dCi 150, costs £18,400, £470 less than the former model.
Looking ahead, Renault has high hopes for its new Laguna Sport Tourer with its stylish lines, innovative Super-fold rear seat system and wide range of trim level and engine combinations.
Available to order now, the new load-lugger is priced from £16,940 to £24,350.
