HONDAS and Toyotas are being targeted for catalytic converters in multi-storey car parks.
Since October 2019 more than 450 thefts have been reported in Thames Valley.
Criminals are targeting Toyota Prius and Honda Jazz cars parked in the open.
They use a car jack to lift the car and take out the catalytic converter, which only takes a couple of minutes. Converters contain a small amount of previous metals like platinum, palladium and rhodium which can be sold at high prices.
The head of intelligence at Thames Valley Police says most of the thefts are linked.
Detective superintendent Jim Weems explained said that they are taking the incidents seriously and are working hard to catch people in the act.
