A TOP boss at an Oxfordshire company died after falling down some steps on holiday.
The inquest opening for Graeme Smith, was held on Wednesday, but the head coroner for Oxfordshire Darren Salter.
Mr Salter explained how the 69-year-old, who was a managing director at a firm in Chalgrove, had been enjoying his holiday in Venice with his partner when he crossed a large bridge and tripped down the stairs.
He fell so badly that he was rushed to hospital with a serious head injury and needed surgery to try and save his life. But four days later, on December 10, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
A full inquest date has not yet been set.
