A CORONER has ordered the police to find ‘lost’ body worn camera footage of Adam Stanmore being Tasered – days before he disappeared and was later found dead.

Mr Stanmore had been missing for nearly four weeks in June last year when his body was discovered in woodland off Grenoble Road in the afternoon of June 13.

An inquest into his death was opened in June, where a possible cause of death was confirmed as hanging.

A pre-inquest review was held yesterday at Oxford Coroners Court by Sonia Hayes, the assistant coroner for Oxfordshire, ahead of a full inquest with a jury later this year.

The inquest heard how Mr Stanmor was reportedly severely unwell in the days before his disappearance.

He had been sitting on a wall on Acacia Avenue, Greater Leys, for much of the afternoon on May 18 before officers arrived.

There was then an altercation during which he was shot in the neck and legs with a Taser three times, and then pinned to the floor with force by up to six officers.

There has been talk of him being in possession of a knife, but he wasn’t charged. Instead, he was put in the back of an ambulance before he got out and walked off – the last time he was seen alive.

His disappearance was reported four days after his arrest, on May 22.

A complaint was lodged against police amid fears his arrest contributed to his poor mental state.

Ms Hayes said yesterday: “If the body worn footage can’t currently be located I definitely want to see that and I want it to be found.

"If it can’t be found I will want somebody to come to court and tell me what has happened.

"We must find it.

"I want the chain of custody within the next 21 days and a copy of the record."

His family representative added that the footage was relevant to the 'chamber of events' and his mental health after the arrest.

Another pre-inquest review has been set provisionally for April 21.

This will be followed by a full inquest, where a jury will decide the answers to vital questions about Mr Stanmore's death.
