A pedestrian died last night following a collision with a car on the A34 outside Oxford.
The accident happened shortly before 7.15pm on the northbound carriageway, between the Hinksey Hill and Botley interchanges, paramedics said this morning.
A spokesman for South Central Ambulance said paramedics were alerted to the accident by Thames Valley Police.
She added: "One fatality was confirmed at the scene and no-one else was transported to hospital."
A police spokesman said it was a woman who was killed after she got out of her vehicle and appeared to start crossing the carriageway just before the 50mph signs approaching Botley.
Her identity has not been released yet.
