Carl Butterworth writes (Oxford Mail, October 29): "How pleasing it must be for those who suffered in the recent floods to see that flood protection plans are being put together, in some areas at least".
I ask - what flood protection plan?
Like other parts of West Oxford, Earl Street was completely wiped out by the July floods.
All 36 houses had more than two feet of water through them and today, only about four houses are occupied.
Yes, we have had the normal round of meetings which happen every time we are flooded (three times in seven years), but we are still waiting for someone to tell us what flood protection is going to be put in place.
So far, nothing has been done to protect our properties. All we seem to hear are the excuses why things should not be done.
So I hope that Mr Butterworth is right and that plans are being put together to protect us from flooding. But as someone who has been involved with this problem for the last seven years, I would not hold my breath.
