A POLICE investigation has been launched after two cars were set alight in North Oxford.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service contacted officers at 11.15pm on Sunday having been called to the fires by residents.

One vehicle was parked on a driveway in Five Mile Drive, the other parked on a driveway in Lathbury Road. Both cars were extensively damaged.

At this early stage, the investigation team is keeping an open mind as to the motive for the attacks but believe both incidents are linked.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard suspicious activity in the area or in Woodstock Road, Banbury Road, or the canal towpath area between 6pm and midnight on Sunday.
