Two men were foiled as they tried to break into a home fleeing over a garden wall after being disturbed by the owners' dog.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the attempted burglary at Abelwood Road, Long Hanborough, at about 2.10pm on Thursday.
The owner heard the doorbell ring but arrived to late to answer it.
Minutes later two men were spotted trying to force the patio windows but they fled when the dog began barking climbing over a fence and escaping into neighbouring Millwood End.
Both are described as white, in their mid-twenties, and average height. They had short, dark hair and were wearing blue tops, jeans and trainers.
Pc Claire Sadler of Witney police said today: "Although these men were unsuccessful in breaking into this house, they may well be responsible for other burglaries locally. If you saw two men acting suspiciously in either Abelwood Road or Milwood End, please let us know."
