Some of Oxfordshire's leading boxers took part in a dinner boxing tournament at the Randolph Hotel, Oxford.
Guests enjoyed dinner and 13 bouts as members of the Oxfordshire Amateur Boxing Club took on opponents from the Army, Oxford University and Bracknell boxing clubs.
A programme for the evening, in immaculate condition, has been sent in by Roy Perks, of Barns Road, Cowley.
It gives pen portraits of six of the leading Oxfordshire boxers who took part - Paul 'Banger' Jackson, Chris Prince, Joe Murphy, Paul Daglish, Dave Dillon and Maurice Brown.
The tournament took place on Monday, January 21, but we are not sure what year.
However, it must have been after 1971 because the cost of annual membership of OBAC was given in decimal coinage - £1.50.
At that time, the patron of OABC was the Duke of Marlborough, the president was John Hare, life-vice-presidents were PL Bickerton and Norman Wisdom, the chairman L Lee and the tournament secretary was Ivan L Wheal.
The other picture shows Mr Perks in his boxing days.
It was sent in by Terry Feary, of Longwall, Littlemore, Oxford, the reader who supplied the picture of four speedway riders (Memory Lane, October 1).
Mr Feary keeps Mr Perks's photograph permanently on the back seat of his car to warn off would-be thieves.
So far, it has worked!
