The company has pledged a revamp and said the 151-bedroom hotel would reopen as Graduate Oxford, part of the Graduate Hotels collection, in 2021.
The proposed name change has already caused controversy and Ian Green, chairman of Oxford Civic Society, said it would 'go down very badly in Oxford' and advised the new owners not to go ahead.
