TWO teenagers who crashed a suspected stolen motorcycle remain in hospital today.

The 15-year-olds were treated for serious leg injuries after a collision with a Ford Mondeo in The Oval, Rose Hill, at about 2pm on Saturday.

Both remain in John Radcliffe Hospital and their condition today was described as serious, but not life-threatening.

The driver of the car, a new Ford Mondeo, was with his wife and 11-year-old daughter and suffered injuries to his hand in the collision, at the junction of Ashhurst Way and Spencer Crescent.

Sgt Mark Ponting, of Abingdon roads policing, said: "It was lucky that someone did not die in this crash. These boys, who are from the local area, were not wearing helmets or protective clothing and they have had a lucky escape.

"The boys have not been arrested at this stage - the main thing is they recover from their injuries - but we will be speaking to them at a later date."

Police believe the motorbike, a Honda 125cc, was stolen from outside the shops in Rose Hill two days ago.

Police cordoned off the junction and diverted traffic away from the scene for three hours.
